Every AI advice/prompt/thought-piece post I’m seeing right now assumes that everyone wants the same thing:

• everyone wants to finish more, faster

• everyone wants their business to run without them

I mean, kind of but not really! I have a slightly different perspective on this:

• I want to spend more time on the things I love and less time on the things I don’t

• I want my expertise, discernment, brain power and magic to be focused on things that are human in my business while what I have already defined as a repeatable thing, repeat themselves without draining my energy.

This may sound similar but the intention is different.

I want freedom, not fast. I want to be in my business where the ME matters.

And if you know anything about me or my work, you know that I NEVER look at anything as a one-size-fits-all situation. AI is no different here.

In this series HD + AI, I will be breaking down how each energy type can use AI to run their business in a way that supports what they are good at, and makes the rest easier to manage.

Let’s Talk about Generators!

Most AI advice rewards breadth. More projects, more offers, more irons in more fires. If you’re a Generator, that’s the opposite of what actually builds your satisfaction (the signal your design runs on).

You’re built to respond to what’s existing. Once you respond “yes” to the aligned thing, you’re built to go deep on it.

Mastery over breadth is the design. Your sacral authority gives you a fast, physical yes or no the second something real is in front of you and once that yes lands, the real work is staying with it long enough for satisfaction to show up, not moving on to the next option because staying felt slow.

Here’s the part almost nobody tells Generators: you will hit a frustration plateau even doing work you genuinely love. That’s a signal to dig deeper or fine-tune. Digging in beats starting over every time.

I know this one from the outside, since I’m a Manifestor. But Be Good Guide, the business itself, is a Generator. It builds through steady engagement, the same client relationships and the same core offers, refined and integrated again and again. NOT constant reinvention.

A system to support a Generator has to account for…

• a gut that gives a clear yes or no to something real and gets absolutely paralyzed by a blank page or open ended question

• a frustration plateau that shows up in work you love and feels like a reason to quit, when it is an invitation to go one layer deeper

• a drive toward mastery that needs one thing held steady long enough to get good, while ten shiny new things keep offering themselves

You see, Generators have the engine. They can carry an enormous amount of work and that is exactly how they end up carrying things that never lit them up in the first place.

The amount a Generator can do is almost always bigger than the amount that feels like satisfaction.

Generators work best with a team around them. Somebody brings the options, somebody holds the repetitive work and the Generator gets to respond, refine, and go deep on the parts that light them the fuck up. Most of the founders I work with are maxed out, stressed out and not ready to hire that team yet.

So this is what I use AI for. I treat it like the team a Generator would have if the budget were there. It brings the sparks, so there is always something real to respond to. It holds the tenth revision, the formatting and the admin that was never going to light anyone up. I am not interested in building a habit that makes you better at admin. I want you out of the admin entirely.

I also need AI to act like the other energy types for a well-rounded team. Generators already have plenty of Generator energy. What they rarely have is a Manifestor in the room, someone throwing off ideas fast enough that the gut always has something to say yes or no to. AI can be that for you.

This is the how…

The ORB (Offer, Respond, Build) Method

Generators need a protective orb to keep them in flow with what lights them up instead of taking on all the things at once. Let’s get into it!

🕊️ Offer

First we have to address the enemies of a Generator → the blank page and open ended questions. This prompt box?

Nightmare fuel for a generator.

The trick? Offer AI something to reference and then ask it to interview you about it. By offering a starting point, you cut time from starting from a blank field and give AI just enough to ask you really good questions, spark ideas and get into flow.

You are asking it to give you something to respond to. You can load in any kind of reference material you have: three directions from your notes app, a rough draft, a template already half filled in, a diagram, a URL, a social post, anything. Explain what you are trying to get to (a strategy, a template, a proposal, whatever) and then tell it to use the reference material and then interview you, one question at a time, with as many questions as humanly possible so that it can understand what you are trying to do. Also tell it to “make no assumptions”.

A Generator’s yes or no needs something in the room to respond to so interviews work really well.

❓ Respond

Let’s dive into the interview portion more specifically and also address general setup for your robots. Set the rule up front: no open-ended questions.

Every question comes as multiple choice, plus one blank spot for your own answer. If you’re naming something, ask for a real quantity of options, five or six and ask for the reasoning behind each one. Your gut still goes first, but check that reasoning against whether it actually holds up, not just whether it felt good.

It’s easy to let AI start feeling like the authority in the room. It never is. AI does a great job at gathering information and options but it is not an expert on what lights you up.

Your sacral response is the authority.

🧱 Build

For a Generator, build means staying with the one thing until the plateau shows up and using AI to dig deeper instead of wandering.

This shows up in two parts: from the jump and mid-project.

From the jump, you can identify all the admin things you don’t want to do because they don’t light you up. Then automate those things. Hate your inbox? Have AI give you a rundown of what’s going on in there and what actually needs you. If it is a task you do on the computer, odds are, it can be automated.

When frustration hits mid-project, that’s usually the exact moment to ask for the version that’s two levels more refined, more specific or deeper. This is not the moment to start something new.

Let AI hold the tenth revision cycle, the version history, the small refinements that used to feel like drudgery, so your energy stays available for the mastery, which is where your satisfaction actually lives.

This could look like taking a draft of a new sales page and having AI review it as if it were your ideal client and have it ask you questions as if you were on a consultation call for that offer. Then have AI roll the changes into the sales page. The more you can move from in the weeds back up to feeling on top of it, the more satisfaction you will experience.

Let’s Talk about Manifestors

I'm a Manifestor. Starting is the fun part.

My brain throws off new ideas the way a bonfire throws off sparks, constant, bright and completely uninterested in staying lit past the moment it caught.

Finishing is where my whole body starts negotiating. The energy that felt urgent on Monday can feel like somebody else's assignment by Thursday.

The first 20% of a project → I am SO IN.

The last 20%? I’ve already moved on…3 projects ahead of where this started.

For years I called that a flaw. Discipline, I told myself. Build the habit. Push through the resistance. None of it worked, because none of it was built for a Manifestor.

Manifestors Initiate

That's the whole strategy: inform, then act, on our own timing, without needing permission.

We light the match. Somebody else, or something else, has to carry it after that. The rest cycle after a spark is how the design keeps working. A Manifestor who never rests between bursts is running on fumes and calling it hustle.

I’ve designed my client work around this. Every project has a distinct container around it. There is no “ongoing forever and ever” project. I pad in time for rest cycles. So even if executing on something takes 2 days, the client timeline is 2 weeks so that the likelihood of hitting a creative urge is high and I don’t feel pressure to work when I’m in a rest cycle.

That part feels really dialed now (and thank fuck because code took years to crack). What is harder is my own business.

Why it’s so hard to figure stuff out for ourselves when it feels so easy to do for clients:

I've spent 23 years in design, tech and product, so systems thinking is native to me.

I was the first Director of Design Systems at Hearst Magazines. Before I pitched “How to Design a Website in 3 Days” to the president of Digital Media, we were designing each magazine website as a bespoke project. There were 50 titles globally (Esquire, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Elle, Car & Driver, etc) and they were taking, on average, 18 months to design and build. That 18 months turned into 2 months for a new magazine and 2 weeks for a redesign to be implemented.

Ya girl is used to gnarly systems designs, at scale, with a lot of stakeholders. So why is it so hard to develop a system for the Manifestor energy type? Because the goal isn’t scale and how fast things can move.

A system to support a Manifestor has to account for…

• a nervous system that dreads the middle and sees the finish line like a distant memory

• a creative cycle that literally CAN’T be “on” all the time

• a way to hold all the ideas that come pouring out in a creative urge…and then give them legs so they don’t quietly die in a notes app

You see, Manifestors actually work best when they have a whole team to execute. Back at Hearst I had a team of designers, many engineering and product teams and a pretty solid budget to execute on every system I designed.

Now? It’s literally just me…and Claude and Notion and Flodesk and Squarespace and Acuity.

I would LOVE to have a team to make all my ideas come to reality but my businesses are both fairly early and I’m just not there yet.

And this is where the majority of my clients are too.

Maxed out, stressed out and not ready to expand into a team yet.

So this is what I am using AI for. I’m treating it like my own team of product managers and engineers so that I can hand-off my idea. I am not interested in building a habit to make me better at admin. I don’t want to do admin at all.

I also need AI to act like the other energy types for a well-rounded team. Who doesn’t need generator energy from time to time.

This is the how…

The Good SIR (Spark, Inform and Release) Method

Because I say “Thank you, good Sir” to my robots. They are men and I boss them around like trusted, but green, butlers. I actually never type in “thank you” because that’s a waste of water/energy/etc but that’s a convo for a different post.

Let’s get into the method.

⚡️ Spark

The second an idea shows up, I get it out of my head before I can talk myself out of it. This could be a new offer, something I am musing on, a new TODO, really anything that comes out of a brainwave or psychic download.

I'll talk it through out loud, usually via Apple voice memo (if it is long) and then dump the transcript into Claude OR I’ll yap straight into Claude using the voice to text feature.

Sometimes I’ll have it interview me further and I will always have it do SOMETHING with it:

• Log it as a substack idea to revisit later

• Fold it into an existing offer doc

• Put it on my roadmap

• Draft the email

• Execute on it right them

This matters more for a Manifestor than almost anyone else, because our ideas have a short shelf life. If the spark sits in a notebook waiting for the right time to develop it, it's already dead. AI collapses that waiting period to minutes and moves it into action.

And ACTION creates MOMENTUM. Ideas don’t.

📣 Inform

Manifestor strategy isn't only initiate, it's initiate and tell people. So I use AI to hold the context I'd otherwise carry around in my head and repeat out loud every time someone needs an update.

A clear brief, a project summary, a set of instructions handed to a tool or a teammate, that's the informing your design already wants you to do, aimed somewhere useful instead of getting lost in a hallway conversation.

I have my robots trained to CAPTURE what I am doing, thinking, saying and then having them surface that when I need it. One example is my Content Command Center. This is an artifact I built that reviews all of my transcripts, chats from the week, docs created, notion progress, email and calendar and then tells me, based on my rules, what I could write about that week for my newsletter, my substack and my instagram.

To be clear, IT DOES NOT WRITE THEM. It gives me a recap of what I have actually done that week that might be helpful to my current and future clients. One paragraph per idea and then there is a button for me to have it interview me further and structure an outline.

This Substack Series came from that Command Center. It is reflecting back to me the things that I do that are awesome that would normally never see the light of day just because I am not designed to work that way.

🪽Release

Most productivity advice skips this completely.

Once the spark is out and the people who need to know, know, I let AI carry the follow through: drafts sitting ready for me to approve, reminders that surface at the right moment, small automated steps that keep a project breathing while I'm taking my daily afternoon bath.

That's what makes rest possible without the whole thing collapsing. I'm not managing every step BUT on the steps where I am specifically needed, AI waits and when I’m ready tells me what’s on my plate. I built a structure that keeps moving on its own, so my energy can go quiet without my business going quiet with it.

What does this look like?

• When I get a referral from someone via email, that lead goes into my tracker

• When I move a lead into the “won” category, it makes a client portal and sets it up based on the project details

• When I need to make a proposal, it has everything it needs just based on the 30 min consultation call transcript to scope and price in a first draft for me to review

And soooo many more things. I get to use my brain on things I need my brain on and I get to fuck off and do what I want while it works on the things I have already defined.

None of this makes me a better finisher. It makes finishing beside the point. The work gets done in bursts, with real rest in between, instead of one long grind I was never built to sustain.

I was sitting in some science class in high school (maybe AP physics??) next to my two friends who were both named Chris, playing the dot game. You know the one → grid of dots, you take turns drawing lines, whoever closes the last box on a square claims it. I was half listening the way I was always half listening and then…

“POP QUIZ!”

She thought she had me…I got a hundred. Highest grade in the class. My two Chrises looked at me like, how did you just do that, we weren’t even paying attention. I couldn’t tell you today what that lesson was even about and I’m honestly not even sure it was actually physics. None of that information stuck past the quiz. But in the moment I could see something on the board, process it, understand it and hand it back.

Understand fast, forget fast, move on.

You see, I don’t have a long term photographic memory. I don’t actually even know if short-term photoraphic memory is a thing but that is how I have described it. I could study my notes in the hallway on the way to class and make A’s with less effort than my fellow classmates.

It made regular subjects easy and easy things bored me. I always wanted a puzzle.

My grandma used to comment on how strange I was with actual jigsaw puzzles. Everyone she knew found the edge pieces first and worked their way in. I’d lay the pieces out and start grouping by color, by pattern, by anything that looked like it belonged together and build little clusters that would eventually connect to each other. Didn’t matter if a piece was an edge or dead center. It always came together. I just never built it the way anyone told me to.

The pattern behind the pattern

Art was the first thing that felt like both a puzzle and a challenge at once. By senior year I’d taken every art class my school offered, so my teacher set me and one other girl up with an independent study. Individual assignments, each with an open ended brief and a medium to complete them with. Acrylic, watercolor, oil, whatever the project called for and figure out what you wanted to do with it.

The other girl went realist and portraiture on every single one. Beautiful, detailed, Renaissance level work.

I was a little envious of it. To be that clear in her lane and to be able to execute with such skill was impressive.

Then we got a brief to paint something at three different scales, actual size, then zoomed in, then zoomed in again all using acrylic paints. I chose Gobstopper packaging.

That was the project that made my teacher ask if I’d ever thought about art school, maybe graphic design. I didn’t even know that was a real option. My guidance counselor, when I brought it up, told me flat out she couldn’t help me. She’d never had a single student go to art school.

There was a brief window before all of that where I thought maybe I’d be a marine biologist, back before I understood it meant labs and research instead of playing mermaids in reefs. But there I was, about to place what feels now like the first domino. Choosing art school.

Constraints were never the enemy

I went to art school as a graphic design major and almost minored in printmaking. I loved letterpress and silk screen, the tactile part of it. I say “almost” because I was one credit away but because of scheduling/logistics I would have had to stay an extra semester to complete a required class and claim the actual degree. I decided the knowledge I had gained was enough and I didn’t need the title.

A painting teacher once told me I should switch majors and become a painter instead. I said no, I didn’t want to be a starving artist and at the time I believed that was the biggest reason for that choice.

I didn’t have anyone around me who’d actually built a life in fine art, so I had no evidence it was survivable. But honestly it was that I liked the problem solving of a brief more than I liked a blank page. Fine art hands you infinite possibility and asks you to say something and I didn’t think I had anything to say yet. Katie back then didn’t know that her experiences would give her LOTS to say later.

Design hands you a set of rules and asks what you can build inside them and that’s the part I couldn’t get enough of. Working the edges of a constraint until something beautiful and functional came out the other side.

The methodology was the assignment

Senior year, my first web design class had one final brief: build a site about something you’d never done before. Everyone in the circle went with things like trying yoga or going vegetarian. Hobbies, lifestyle experiments.

I was last to go and I said I was going to sneak into VIP and meet Vanilla Ice.

The room looked at me like I was joking. I wasn’t. He had a meet and greet at a bar downtown and I was going to get into the roped off section and turn the whole thing into a repeatable framework other people could use.

Even back then, before I had a name for it, I was already doing what a psychic business strategist I got a reading from recently calls the Law of Assumption. Instead of chasing what you want, you assume it’s already yours.

I enlisted a friend, we got dressed up, waited in line, took photos with Vanilla Ice (he made an inappropriate comment about my cleavage, we ended up taking a second photo because he wanted more of it in frame, which tells you everything about that night) and stood near a Jäger ice luge while little people in oompa loompa costumes poured vanilla vodka into people’s mouths and threw pizza slices into the crowd. Don’t even get me started on how problematic this whole thing was. The VIP section had exactly two drink options, Heineken and Jäger, and I wasn’t dying to stay longer than the assignment required.

But I had a brief.

So my friend and I moved past Vanilla Ice, struck up a conversation with a girl who looked fab but approachable, and became instant, fast friends the way you do with a stranger in a bathroom line at 2 a.m. when someone needs a tampon and the whole room bands together.

Then a security guy started shouting

“If you don’t belong in VIP, move this way out of the area!”

And I thought → I DO belong here. So I hopped on the couch and kept talking to our new friend until things wound down. Met Vanilla Ice’s manager along the way, got offered a drink, Heineken again, and once the meet and greet ended and the bar started getting chaotic, we left.

Mission accomplished.

After, I built a methodology out of it. Four steps, I think, though I only remember the first one now: pretend like you belong there. The rest is buried on a hard drive somewhere with a cable that doesn’t fit anything I currently own. I built the site in Dreamweaver, turned in an HTML file, got an A.

That was the first time I went all the way through the loop. I had something I wanted. I figured out the strategy to get it. I turned that strategy into something repeatable and I published it for other people to use. The brief didn’t have to come from a client. I could hand it to myself.

Look for the evidence, not just the resume

None of this moves in a straight line. Marine biologist, then art school, then almost a painting major, then a Vanilla Ice website, then back to design as an actual living. But run it all through and it’s the same hand doing the sorting every time.

None of it registered as my actual wiring back then. It’s really only in the last five years that I’ve started seeing it and more keeps surfacing the longer I sit with it. If you want to understand how you operate, look for the evidence in your earlier years, before the external pressure got loud. Not what you were told to want. What you actually chose, and why, underneath the reasons you gave people at the time.

Here’s one more piece of evidence. I was a Girl Scout through ninth grade. My town was small enough that we shared a regional middle and high school, but somehow it had two separate troops.

One was about table settings, manners, cooking, sewing. Kind of a debutante in training vibe, even in Connecticut.

The other was camping, compasses, finding your way through the woods and it got more hardcore as I got older. Winter camping, lighting fires in the snow, a forty mile bike trip where we camped overnight, real hardcore shit.

I had picked the second troop. Obviously.

I chose the challenge. I chose to be in the wild. I chose the option where I would inevitably have to figure it the fuck out and the stakes were higher than seating arrangements.

The evidence is always there, in every chapter, if you go looking. The most fulfilling thing I’ve ever done isn’t any one accomplishment.

It’s finding these threads and choosing to build on them instead of around them. The more I know myself and choose myself, the less resistance I run into. Less drain. Less of the anger that shows up when I’m operating outside my own wiring instead of inside it. It’s a Manifestor thing. Mostly it’s just the difference between fighting your own pattern and finally building with it.

In 2022, when Elon Musk took over at Twitter, I got laid off along with everybody else. They offered severance. I looked at it, decided it was insulting, and said no. What came after was a long stretch of not knowing where I’d land or what I’d walk away with.

Around that same time, I set up an altar in my house. Protective crystals surrounding money crystals with one intention I said out loud when I made it: protect what’s mine, and what’s owed to me.

Before I had any real information to go on, something very specific about how it would resolve came through to me. It was the kind of thing you could easily get attached to as an outcome. I noticed it. Wrote it in a journal. Then released any attachment to it.

When the situation finally did resolve, it was spot on to what had come through. I can’t get into the specifics for legal reasons, but the pattern held.

That altar has lived in the same spot in my house since November of 2022. It’s staying there until that chapter is fully closed.

Give Money a Place to Land

It’s actually not really about the crystals but the intention I put behind it is important to sift through.

You can’t protect money by squeezing it until your knuckles go white. Instead, build it a place to land and then get out of the friggin’ way of how it arrives.

I do a version of this every time I spend a meaningful amount of money on my own business, especially on investing in myself or learning something new. I say it out loud:

So far, it’s been working!

Here’s the mechanics of why, as best I can explain it.

When you grip money too tightly, when you’re white-knuckled about not losing it, you end up watching for the next drop instead of the next opening.

You can’t scan for danger and scan for opportunity with the same set of eyes.

You have to pick one. I choose not to hunt for abundance. I choose to stay open to it, which is a different posture entirely.

I see the tight-grip version constantly in the founders I work with, usually right before a launch.

Someone builds a new offer, gets close to putting it out into the world, and starts white-knuckling the number.

What will this make.
Will it work.
What if it doesn’t.

The second that happens, they stop talking about the thing they built and start talking about the outcome they need from it.

The energy of the whole launch shifts from “I built something that genuinely helps people” to “please let this work.” People can feel that difference from the outside.

The fix for this is almost embarrassingly simple: before you launch anything, sit down and write out everything you’re obsessed with about what you made.

Every way it’s going to help people. How good it actually is. You’re rebuilding the connection to the mission before you ever look at the number again. It puts you back in service instead of back in scarcity and it changes the entire vibe and energy of the launch.

You can feel the difference in your own body.

Let’s do a little exercise

Think about gripping money,
fistfuls of it,
held too tight,
knuckles white,
hand close to cramping.

Release and take a deep breath.

Now think about being in service,
having something real to offer that helps others,
how they are transformed by your magic,
how incredible the work is that you have created,
the people you have helped with the exact thing they needed.

Can you tell the difference?

For me, it is astounding. It’s the contrast between some mix of dread, fear and anxiety to pure joy and gratitude.

The Takeaway

Build something solid enough to hold the outcome you want, then loosen your grip enough to let it actually move. You don’t protect money by choking it. Let it flow and let it land.

The altar isn’t really about crystals and the phrase isn’t really about luck. Both are mechanisms I use to loosen the grip.

Here’s the thing though…you don’t need a magazine assignment to pull an Andie Anderson on your subscriber list. Most businesses are doing it completely by accident, with total sincerity, thinking they’re being a good, attentive, likable presence in someone’s inbox.

Meanwhile the subscriber is quietly backing toward the door the way Ben did every time Andie was being “crazy”.

Here’s the other thing. It’s almost never the writing. I subscribe to so many founders with brilliant things to say.

It’s the five things happening around the writing, the equivalent of the dead fern and the uninvited poker-night appearance, that quietly convince someone to swipe left on a business they actually liked.

The five ways you’re Andie-ing your list

Mistake one: no photos of you.

If a new subscriber can’t picture the human on the other end of the email, especially in that first welcome sequence, there’s no one to build a crush on. Logos, illustrations scraped from google and stock photos are a stranger at the door. A real, well-lit photo of an actual person is the person actually answering the email so introduce yourself!

Mistake two: the wall of text.

This is the group-hang monologue. No hierarchy, no white space, no clear place to jump in, just paragraph after paragraph asking the reader to keep up. Your subscriber tunes out around the third unbroken paragraph.

Mistake three: not built for mobile.

Text running edge to edge, a skinny column that forces sideways scrolling, links so faint you’d need editor instincts to spot them...Oh my! Most of your list is reading you on a phone, standing in a kitchen, half paying attention.

If it’s uncomfortable to read there, it gets the same fate as that dying love fern: closed, deleted, never spoken of again.

Mistake four: an identity crisis.

The email doesn’t sound, look, or feel like the same person your subscriber followed on Instagram or found on your website. It’s the equivalent of Andie showing up as three different women depending on the assignment: aloof at the restaurant, cool at the Mets game, a complete psycho by poker night. Every mismatch costs a little trust, because somewhere in the back of the subscriber’s mind, a small voice is asking, wait, is this the same person?

Mistake five: an unclear CTA.

Three buttons, three different phrases, all pointing at the same place, plus a link list at the bottom just in case.

It feels generous, but it’s actually just a lot of pressure with no clear ask. It can also feel like homework instead of helpful. If you are launching a new product line? Totally fine to link to several of the products. That is more like a collection of things. Telling someone to take 15 actions that all are shouting at the same volume is a bit much.

These are just a few examples of the exact playbook for getting dumped. When it comes to email, design isn’t just about visuals. The ability to scan quickly and then go deeper and actually read the words you’ve spent time on is important.

We can spend so much time on sales pages and instagram and every other front door to our world. But what about the people who have already raised their hands to read your words? Let’s not leave them hanging. They deserve the same 5 star treatment!

Its founder, Banu Guler, and her team of roughly two dozen people are now part of Midjourney. Guler becomes Midjourney’s Chief Design Officer, and the company says CoStar keeps running under her direction.

I’ve spent 23 years in design and tech. I know exactly how these acquisitions work, and I know what “keeps running under her direction” actually means in the fine print. I deleted my CoStar account within the hour…and I was not alone.

Here’s the part that matters more than the horoscopes of it all

…and this is gonna get a bit techy for a minute.

Midjourney has always lived inside Discord, working through a server instead of its own app.

That setup left one gap: a direct way to collect personal data from its own users. CoStar has exactly that. Birthdates, birth times, birth locations, years of daily engagement, relationship data for every friend you’ve ever added for a compatibility check. That’s the actual asset in this deal. The horoscope copy is beside the point. Data collected once, for one purpose, is about to get used again for another.

Here’s where I landed: the more personal a tool gets, the more say you get in who’s earned that part of you. That decision doesn’t run on autopilot just because a tool is convenient, popular, or already sitting on your phone.

I want to talk about my reaction process through my Blueprint.

I felt the answer in my body before I’d built a single sentence of reasoning, Splenic authority doing exactly what it’s built to do, fast and physical, done before my mind caught up.

Happy for a female founder, concerned about CoStar being source material for AI then urge to delete it.

I posted a stories about it that same night, uninvited, unscheduled, because that’s the Manifestor part of me.

I don’t wait for permission to have a reaction. I have it and then SOMETIMES I tell you about it.

What took longer was feeling like I earned the right to publish an actual argument instead of just a feeling.

I’m a 5/1 and the Investigator half needed to get precise, on the data question, the funding question, and what I actually took issue with, before I’d stand behind any of it in writing. Putting a bold public opinion out there at all is my 10th house Aries stellium doing its job, that boldness is my natural frequency.

Underneath it is Cancer Rising, which is why the take reads sharp in public but comes from something protective underneath: this is people’s birth data, and something in me goes fiercely maternal the second that gets threatened.

The funny thing is that I actually agree with why Midjourney wanted in.

Astrology and Human Design are two of the most personalizing tools that exist for how someone runs a business, makes a decision, moves through an actual week. That’s the whole premise of my own work.

I use AI inside that work, too. I’ve used it to reformat five hundred and twenty two individual ephemeris events for my Astro Biz Calendar, a job that took a full work week by hand and two days with AI doing the reformatting, back in early ChatGPT days. I’m aiming for an afternoon for 2027’s version with Claude.

I’ve trained a knowledge base on my own analogies, ways of looking at strategy and systems and my own read of chart placements, in Human Design and astrology both, so when I build someone’s Blueprint, it hands me a first draft I finish by hand with the specificity and channeled insight only a real read gives you. Every word in that draft traces back to what I actually wrote, never to generic internet astrology.

The difference between that and what Midjourney just bought is consent.

My data is mine, and I chose to hand it to a system I built myself, for a purpose I picked. CoStar’s users never got that same choice twice.

This isn’t only an astrology story. Every app on your phone is getting more personalized, your health app, your banking app, your to-do list, all of it learning more about you by the month, which means all of it is deciding how much of you it’s earned.

Chani Nicholas built an app that stays human on purpose and says so in plain numbers: no one on the team paid under $80,000, full benefits, five percent of revenue, not just profits, going straight to survivors of gender-based violence, over $3.1 million generated for survivors so far.

CoStar built something designed to keep you opening it, push notifications timed for maximum sting, a compatibility score you can’t stop checking, a daily card vague enough to feel ominous at best and rage bait at worst. Both are personalized. One earns your trust. The other just wants your attention.

I mean their support tab should tell you something…

I’ve also downloaded nearly every astrology and Human Design app that exists, it’s part of knowing the landscape in this industry.

The landscape splits into two real categories.

1. Some tools are utility tools, built for people who already know how to interpret the data and read a chart themselves (Time Passages, Time Nomad, etc).

2. Others are built to close that gap for people who don’t (CoStar, Chani, the Pattern). CHANI is the only app I trust to close that gap with integrity.

For the utility side, I use Luna Astrology to generate charts and BodyGraph for Human Design. Plenty of others are still sitting on my phone.

I don’t want to flatten this into a clean villain story either.

Banu Guler built something four million people use a month and just sold it, and I feel that!

All-women founding teams still raise only around 2% of US venture capital. Even the more generous count, any startup with at least one female cofounder, only got women to about 27.7% of 2025 VC dollars, up from 19.9% the year before and itself a record high.

Acquisitions are worse: only about 7% of US acquisitions in 2023 went to a company with a female founder, and globally that number drops to roughly 3%.

Against those numbers, a woman-founded astrology app getting bought by a major AI lab is a rare, real win.

I love watching a woman succeed. I love that astrology, something so often dismissed as soft or unserious, just got treated like the multi-million dollar business it actually is. Discernment isn’t picking a side. It’s holding both, the real win and the real question about what it cost the people who trusted her with their data.

So here it is again: the more a tool knows about you, the more say you get in who’s earned that, and convenience is never a good enough reason to skip the question.

I was cleaning up my Services and Offers database, the one place in my business that never lies to me, and I decided to actually count. Every offer I have ever scoped since I started Be Good Guide in January 2023. Every single one that got far enough to have a name, a price, a rough outline, before I built it, shelved it, or quietly let it die.

39. 30-9?? Thirty-fucking-nine.

That’s ONE A MONTH. 🤦‍♀️ And I say this knowing full-well that there are probably hundreds more in my notes app that never graduated to Notion.

Of those 39, 5 (yes only 5) are still standing in my current ecosystem. And of those 5, only 4 are actually built around how I work. The fifth? That one is a digital product I launched for the year and will continue to just exist for the rest of 2026.

4 out of 39 is the real number behind three and a half years of running this business. And here's what it taught me: an offer that doesn't survive is evidence it never matched how you're built.

Do I have more ideas in the works right now? Yes. But this time it’s different (I swear!). They’re built specifically and intentionally around how I operate, they extend the offers that already exist in a real way, and they sit squarely in my zone of genius. And most importantly, they don’t feel like I’ll want to scrap them in the next 6 months because they are designed to evolve with me 🎤👊⬇️.

The offers you scrap are the cost of finding what actually fits, and that cost is real, so you might as well look straight at it.

We talk about pivots like they’re a single clean decision, a lightbulb moment, a strategy call where everything clicked. What actually happened for me was 34 separate times I built enough of an offer to believe in it, and then found out it didn’t fit. A pricing model borrowed from someone whose business runs nothing like mine. A delivery format that worked for a coach with a completely different energy than mine. A container I built because it was working for someone else, not because it was working for me.

Every one of those 34 cost something. Not just the hours scoping and building. The clients I tried to sell those offers to and either couldn’t, or could and then dreaded the delivery. The months I spent explaining an offer instead of just running it. The quiet tax of building something and then having to be the kind of person who could sustain it, when I’m not actually built that way.

I’m a Manifestor. I initiate in bursts, I don’t wait for permission, and I need foundational certainty before I move. A lot of those 34 offers asked me to be consistent in ways that fight my actual design: recurring calls on a fixed schedule, a steady drip of content, a delivery cadence that assumed I’d feel the same way about it every single week. I don’t. I never will. It took building the wrong thing over and over to finally believe that wasn’t a discipline gap. It was structural.

I don’t think I’m unusual: if you’ve been in business more than a year and you haven’t counted, you probably have a number like this too.

You don't need my chart to have your own version of this. Maybe it's the group program you built because everyone said recurring revenue needs a cohort model, and now your stomach drops every Tuesday at 2pm when the call reminder pops up. Maybe it's the content calendar you copied from someone who thrives on posting daily, and you've abandoned it four separate times because daily was never going to fit how your brain moves. Maybe it's a price you set because a mentor told you to charge that number, and you flinch a little every time you send the invoice.

None of that is a discipline gap either. It’s the same mismatch, just wearing a different outfit.

If you’ve been in business more than a year and you haven’t counted, you probably have a number like mine. Most founders never track the offers that didn’t make it. They just feel the drag of one more pivot and assume it means they haven’t found it yet, or worse, that something’s wrong with them. It’s data. Every offer that didn’t stick told you something true about what actually fits. 34 (say 34 one more fucking time, Katie…🤣) data points is a very expensive, very thorough research project you already paid for.

The 4 that made it share something the other 35 didn’t: they run on my actual rhythm instead of someone else’s. They let me initiate instead of maintain. They don’t ask me to show up the same way every week just to prove I’m serious.

If you’re sitting on your own version of this number, here’s what I’d actually do with it. Don’t use it to prove you’ve been flaky. Use it to see the shape of what already works, because it’s probably been sitting there the whole time, underneath everything you tried that wasn’t it.

Count what you’ve built, keep what fits, and stop treating the rest as a personal failure instead of what it actually was: the cost of finding out.

It was a giant outline of everything I wanted to bring into the world, across my own business and my clients’ businesses. Every morning I’d open it and pick whatever I felt called to work on that day. No outline of what it would actually take to bring any one thing into the world. No line connecting today’s task to a specific, tangible goal. Just a list, and a feeling, and me deciding in real time what earned my attention.

It worked, sort of. I got things done. But I couldn’t have told you which of those things actually moved the needle, because nothing was laddered up to anything. It’s like I forgot everything I learned in corporate america that works. Don’t worry, I remembered.

Six months later, I don’t have a task list. I have a roadmap. And the shift between the two is the thing I want to walk you through.

Where this actually comes from

Before Be Good Guide, I spent 23 years in tech and product, and a good chunk of that was inside the Agile process, which came out of engineering and eventually took over how a lot of the companies I worked at executed plans.

Agile is a philosophy more than a rigid method. It prioritizes people and collaboration over rigid tools, and responding to change over following a fixed plan set in January and defended through December.

In practice, that meant breaking down a big goal from the C-suite into short, defined cycles of work instead of trying to plan the whole thing up front. What I watched it do well, across multiple companies and multiple teams, was give leadership visibility into progress as a byproduct of the work itself, not as extra reporting bolted on top. And it wasn’t built around a deadline you worked backward from. It was built around continuous progress that laddered up to something bigger, at a pace that respected what the team could actually hold.

Here’s why that matters if you run your own business. In a company, that structure exists because there are departments. There’s a person for bringing in new business and a person for delivery and a person watching the roadmap. When you’re a solopreneur, you’re every one of those departments. Some days you’re in the weeds: sending emails, running client sessions, launching the thing. Other days you need to be above it, looking at where you’re actually headed.

Most entrepreneurs never built the structure that lets you move between those two modes on purpose. So you just stay in the weeds, because the weeds are loud and the roadmap is quiet.

The three layers: goal, milestone, task

This is the ladder I use now, and I think most people are missing the middle rung.

Goals need to be measurable, and I give mine a long runway. Mine are set for the full year, and I don’t revisit them until the following Q3. This let’s me focus on what I’ve committed to and then also gives me a quarter ahead to decide on the next years goals (yearly planning happens in the Q3 before). I also keep the number of goals small on purpose. I track a main revenue goal, a scale goal (email list and Substack subscribers, free and paid), an authority goal (things like podcast guesting or speaking), and an operations goal focused on what I’m optimizing or automating. That last one isn’t a quantity metric. It’s closer to done or not done. I also make sure to have 1-2 Joy goals for myself (take 2 trips, attend a retreat, etc). Those are what make the other goals worth it.

Milestones are what most people would call projects, and they’re the layer almost everyone skips straight past. If you’re sitting down and asking “what could I build,” you’re not yet asking how it ladders up to where you’re going. Say the goal is $30K. The milestone underneath it isn’t “launch something new.” It could just as easily be “land 10 clients on an existing service, from your existing audience.” That’s a milestone: specific, and completable.

Tasks are what it actually takes to hit the milestone. Under “land 10 clients on an existing service,” a task might be identifying which past clients are warm leads for that service again. Another task is drafting the email. Another is sending it. Nothing revolutionary on its own, but every task is now attached to something. That’s the whole shift. You stop piling on to-dos and start asking what each one is actually contributing to.

Running the retrospective before you build the roadmap

Before I help a client build their roadmap, we run a Stop, Start, Continue retro first. I did this with one of my monthly advisory clients two weeks ago, using a template I already had built in Canva, and it’s a fast way to look back at the last six months honestly, not just at what’s working externally, but inside the team itself.

We split the board into three: what to stop, what to start, what to continue. What surfaced for me, watching this business from the outside, was a version of the exact thing I’d lived myself in January. One note I wrote during the retro: working on tasks that aren’t attached to a goal. Another: the business was mostly focusing on foundations, and it was time to shift into growth mode. Different business, same root cause. Motion without a ladder underneath it.

That’s the value of the retro. It surfaces where you’re moving for the sake of moving, before you build the next six months on top of it.

Two weeks out, the roadmap for that client is now built in structure, and we’re filling in the tasks as we go.

Start small

You don’t need a polished system to try this. Grab three columns, real or digital, and write down what to stop, start, and continue looking back on your last six months. Then take one goal you’re already circling and ask what the milestone underneath it actually is, not what you could build, but what specific, completable thing would move you toward it. Break that milestone into three tasks you could do this week.

I haven’t built the roadmap out as a template yet. I want to know what would actually be useful before I do.

Quick context if you’re new here. An Unbothered Business Blueprint is the operating manual I created for how you, specifically, are built to run your business. How to tell a commitment is fighting your blueprint

The first decision: I stopped writing the horoscopes.

It sounds small. It was one of the bigger shifts of my year. I had them pinned to the sky, a new piece for every new moon, every full moon, and every change of zodiac season. So several times a month, the calendar handed me a deadline. The moon would shift and a clock would start, whether or not the urge to write had arrived.

Here is the part I sat with for a long time. I am a manifestor. I am built to initiate in bursts, on my own timing, when the energy to create actually rises. A standing schedule pinned to the moon asked me to perform on a clock, which is one of the surest ways to smother a manifestor’s fire. More often than not, it would come time to write a post and I would dread it. I would resist and then make myself do it. That’s not the energy I’m here for.

The cadence was serving an old idea I had about what a consistent creator who works with astrology is supposed to do. So I let it go. The astrology still matters to me. I integrate it in everything I do. The format was the thing pulling against me.

That is what a blueprint is for. It is a set of decisions about how you specifically are meant to work, so you can stop renegotiating the same things every week. When a commitment fights your blueprint, you feel it. It drags.

You have a version of the horoscope. It’s the standing commitment you took on because it looked like what a serious business is supposed to do, and it quietly costs you something every time it comes due. Your blueprint gives you one clean question to hold it up against: does this run with how I work, or against it. The drag is your answer.

Build one place where you can see your whole business

The bigger project last week was building a single place where I can actually see my business.

For years my numbers lived in seven different tools. Revenue in one place, the email list in another, Substack free and paid somewhere else, Instagram in its own app, speaking gigs in my head. My client pipeline lived half in a doc and half in my memory, which is a generous word for it. To answer a simple question like “how am I actually doing this month,” I had to go on a scavenger hunt, and the hunt was annoying enough that I mostly just skipped it.

So I built a command center. One screen, pulling live: revenue against goal, Instagram, Substack total and paid, the email list, speaking gigs. The client pipeline grouped by stage, so I can see what’s a lead, what’s waiting on me, and what’s actually moving. And my active tasks sorted by project, so the summit, the chapters work, and the roadmap stay in their own lanes instead of fighting for the same corner of my brain.

The strange thing about seeing it all in one place is how much calmer it made me. The calm came from setting the whole picture down, the way you set down a heavy bag. Some of those numbers still have a long way to go.

One of my favorite parts is the weekly view that looks at my calendar and tells me when open blocks are. It takes into account my Flow Formula™️ which uses my chart to tell me how to best utilize the days of the week. It also gives me a slap on the wrist in my daily brief if I’m working against it.

The dashboard holds the picture now, so my head is free to think instead of remember. That freedom matters extra for a manifestor. I move when the urge to start something rises, and a scattered, invisible business buries that urge under admin. One clear view hands the initiating energy back to me.

Your dashboard can look like anything. What matters is one surface where your real numbers and your real pipeline live together, so your mind gets to be a brain instead of a filing cabinet. The relief is less about the metrics and more about finally setting the weight down. You make better calls when you can see the whole board.

Being ahead can scatter you as much as being behind

Here is the moment from the week that stuck with me.

I’m building Client T a version of the same command center, along with many other systems, because she needs that CEO-level view into her own world the way I did. We got on our check-in, and she described feeling scattered. She was ahead on her monthly goals, with extra energy and nowhere to put it, so it was just sloshing around, making her feel busy and unfocused at the same time.

I know that feeling so well. Most capable people do. We talk about overwhelm like it only shows up when you’re behind, but some of the most disorienting weeks are the ones where you’re ahead and the surplus has nowhere to go. The energy stays. It scatters. It finds ten half-projects to leak into. And then you end the week tired, with the reason just out of reach.

That is a structure problem. When you can see your goals and your capacity in one place, the extra energy gets a destination. You can pull a future sprint forward, or you can rest on purpose. Both are good calls. So we’re building sprint planning around the goals next, for both of us, so the surplus has somewhere to land.

If you’ve ever closed out a strong week feeling oddly frayed, this is probably why. Capacity from being ahead needs a plan as much as the pressure of being behind does. Give it one on purpose, and your good week keeps its shape instead of dissolving into busywork.

The real lesson: build around the operator, not the idea

The through-line in all of it, the horoscope, the dashboard, the conversation with Client T, is the same. A business should be built around how the person actually operates. Not how you assumed it should look when you started. Not the cadence someone else swears by. You.

Aligning the business to the operator is maintenance, the ongoing kind. Last week was a maintenance week. I dropped a thing that dragged, I built a thing that fit, and I helped someone I trust start doing the same.

Your maintenance week is waiting in the things that quietly drag, the numbers you can’t see in one place, and the energy that keeps scattering. You can run the same three moves on your own business this week: cut one commitment that fights your wiring, build one view that shows you the whole picture, and give your spare capacity a place to go.

I built a nighttime ritual I actually do now. One prize wheel, one spin, whatever it lands on. The decision gets made before my brain is too far gone to make it. That’s it.

But let’s back up a but to how I got here. I‘ve been on a longer journey of learning to actually listen to my body, and one of the things that accelerated it was doing DNA testing with . What came back was specific enough to change how I think about my whole day: when my cortisol spikes, it stays high. And that directly impacts my sleep.

The end of my day, unbeknownst to me until now, is a cortisol management situation. What I do, watch, engage with, and think about in those last few hours before sleep either supports that or works against it. So rude, right?

My mornings are dialed. I’ve built a routine I actually love, one I revisit every six months so it stays fresh, and I feel genuinely supported by how I ease into the day. At night? That’s a different story.

The evening is the next frontier.

By 4pm, my brain is done. I wake up around six, I go to sleep around ten, which means 4pm is already two thirds of the way through my actual day. My nervous system has done the math even when I haven’t. And asking my 4pm brain to choose a restorative evening activity out of the blue is asking it to do the thing it is least equipped to do at that moment. So it reaches for whatever has the lowest entry barrier.

For a long time, the default at the end of the day has been putting on TV and numbing. Currently in rotation: Love Island. It’s literally on like every day so it’s reliable as a default. And I’m watching, and I’m scrolling, and I just feel like I’m numbing.

The insight that finally cracked it came from a call with my somatic movement coach Sam (she’s incredible and trains you on how to process the stored emotions in your body in a way that feels safe and supportive).

We’ve been doing movement and visualization work and this week, we landed on the topic of rest. On my relationship with it. On where I learned that rest needed to be earned.

My mom self-abandoned to host every holiday. The days of prep, the hours in the kitchen with no help while everyone else enjoys themselves. Started as just Easter, became every single one. My dad, an entrepreneur and the bread winner, also built the house we grew up in with his own hands. Weekends were projects. The message underneath all of it was: there is always more to be done.

The belief I’m still untangling is “if I stop moving, I’ll fall behind.” And when I’m in a rest cycle, I feel guilty about it, which creates pressure, which creates freeze, which means I have to dig myself out before I can actually rest. By that point I’m just putting on Love Island and calling it a night.

I already knew this. It’s not NEW information. The sauna is where I feel it most clearly. No book, no phone, just existing. I feel amazing after. I don’t struggle to know what rest feels like. The struggle is trying to decide how to do it when my brain is already mush.

Think about when someone is grieving…you don’t ask them what they need. The part of the brain that generates preferences and makes choices is offline. The most useful thing you can do is show up with a plan and remove the burden of deciding. You bring the soup. You make the call. You take the choice off their plate entirely.

My brain at 4pm is in a similar place. Rest requires a micro-decision: pick the thing, get up, do the thing. Scrolling requires zero decisions. That is where the whole evening goes.

Here’s how I solved this in the most fun way I could think of

So I happened to have this prize wheel from a conference event I did. Obviously. Who doesn’t have a prize wheel?

When I mentioned my plan in my HOT GIRL FNDR group chat, the ideas came in immediately. My friends sent ritual after ritual. I now have a full backlog I’m still sorting through. The crowd-sourcing happened so naturally because the premise was specific enough to make it easy to contribute and I happen to be surrounded by the most brilliant baddies who make me feel super supported.

So there it was. I had everything I needed. I put rituals on the wedges. One spin, that’s the protocol. Whatever it lands on, I do it. I can spin again and stack if I want more. I can swap wedges whenever the novelty wears off. I don’t have to generate the idea from scratch when I’m already running on empty.

The wheel is working. The gap between knowing what would help and actually doing it is almost never willpower. It’s friction. And friction at the end of the day, when your brain has already closed up shop, compounds everything that didn’t get processed.

The wheel works because it removes the decision. But what goes on the wheel matters too. A list of rituals that don’t actually fit how you’re wired will still sit there unused, just in a different format.

Two inputs: your Moon sign and the time your brain actually closes up shop (likely hours before you may think it’s maxed out).

1. Write each ritual on a piece of paper, fold them and put them in a jar or bowl to draw from each night

2. Rotate through the list in order and do one each day (easily something that could be plugged into your calendar)

4. Make your own set of ritual cards (index cards would work well) and pull one each night

Finding Your Actual Depletion Window

I learned this from my first design job. My boss asked me to track my day for three days in a row in my notes app. Not my tasks → my energy. When did I feel most creative and dialed in? When was I better suited for admin or busy work? When was my brain actually done?

The instructions were simple: every hour or so, open your notes app and log how you feel. Creative, focused, foggy, wired, flat, restless. Just the honest word for the state you’re actually in. Do it for three days and look at the pattern.

Most people are shocked by what comes back. The window where you’re genuinely sharp is narrower than you think. And the window where your brain has quietly clocked out, often while you’re still sitting at your desk telling yourself “just one more thing,” starts earlier than you’d expect.

For me, clock out is usually 3pm → 4pm at the latest. That used to feel like a personal failing. Now it’s just data. My wheel is built around the reality of that window, not the version of myself I wish existed at 7pm.

Track your days. Find your number. Build your wheel around that time, not around when you think you should be done.

Your Moon sign tells you what kind of nourishment your nervous system is actually asking for.

Your Moon sign is in your natal chart, which you can pull for free at astro.com using your birth date, time, and location. Locate the Moon symbol and look at the zodiac sign assigned to it.

🔥 Fire Moons (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

Your nervous system restores through movement, spark, and doing something that feels alive. Passive rest often makes you more restless. Good wedges: a short walk, stretching with music that actually moves you, something creative with your hands, switching your environment entirely, candles or fire gazing, anything that feels like a small adventure even if you don’t leave the house.

🌿 Earth Moons (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

Your nervous system restores through the physical and the sensory. You need to come back into your body and feel something grounding beneath you. Good wedges: a bath with salt and candles, skincare with slow intention, a magnesium drink, tidying one small space, something that smells good, anything that makes your body feel tended to.

💨 Air Moons (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)

Your nervous system restores through a shift in mental texture, something that engages your mind differently than work did. Good wedges: a show that sparks genuine delight, a chapter of something you’re reading for pleasure, a card pull with journaling, binaural beats with a brain dump, a voice note to a friend, anything that moves your thinking somewhere it wasn’t.

🌊 Water Moons (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)

Your nervous system restores through immersion, depth, and emotional release. You’re wired to go somewhere internally, and the rituals that work best give you a container for that. Good wedges: a bath with a bath bomb or bubbles, anything with water, creative work that absorbs you fully like embroidery or drawing or anything with your hands that requires no outcome, a channeled voice note to yourself, card pull and free verse, fire scrying, crystals, self-reiki, anything that feels like going deeper rather than winding down.

My Moon is in Scorpio in the fifth house, which is why my most effective wedges involve water, creation, or something that pulls me into a feeling rather than away from one. Legs up the wall works for me because it feels like an action even in stillness. Fire gazing works because Scorpio is a water sign ruled by Mars, so there’s fire underneath all of it. Embroidery works because it absorbs me completely and produces something, which my fifth house needs.

These came from my friends (1 water moon and 1 earth moon) after I posted about the wheel. I’ve added notes where I have them. All of these are real, all of them have been suggested by actual humans, and some of them are going on my wheel as I test them.

Build your wheel from whatever resonates for your Moon sign and your actual depletion window. The goal is a list where every option would genuinely restore you, so whatever it lands on, you win.

Every year when Gemini season arrives, the world speeds up. The weather turns, the energy lifts, people start moving faster and posting more and showing up louder. Spring is in full swing and the cultural message is clear: this is the time to be seen.

Meanwhile, I have spent the last several weeks in bed having downloads about visibility.

This is not a metaphor. This is Gemini season in my 12th house, and it happens every year without fail, and every year I have fought it by trying to produce content on a schedule the sky set rather than one my body agreed to. This year I stopped fighting it. And what happened in that stopping is what this whole series is about.

What the 12th house actually is

The 12th house is the part of your chart that rules retreat, the unconscious, the things that happen beneath the surface before they are ready to be named. It is not a glamorous house. It does not produce content. It produces clarity, but slowly, and only if you let it do its work without interrupting it with a posting schedule.

When the sun moves through your 12th house every year, you get approximately four weeks of this energy. Four weeks where the most productive thing you can do looks, from the outside, completely unproductive. Rest. Reflection. The kind of thinking that goes in circles before it finds the thread.

To find your own 12th house season, look at your rising sign. The sign that comes just before your rising is the sign that rules your 12th house. Whatever season belongs to that sign is your annual retreat window. Mine is Gemini, which sits just before my Cancer rising. So every year, from late May through late June, while everyone else is warming up and speeding up, I am being pulled inward.

This year I finally stopped apologizing for it.

What this one actually felt like

My mind has been running at full speed while my output has been nearly invisible.

Downloads arriving faster than I can transcribe them. Questions about where this business is going, what I actually want to build, what I have been performing versus what I am genuinely here to do. The irony of this particular 12th house season is that most of those downloads have been about visibility. I have been doing the inner work about how I want to step into being more seen, entirely in private, entirely in the dark, while Gemini season threw a party outside my window that I had no interest in attending.

My natal Chiron is in Gemini, which means every Gemini season carries an additional layer of old wound material moving through. The places where I learned to make myself smaller. The places where I learned that being too much, or too direct, or too certain cost me something. That material has been present this season in ways I am still sorting through.

And underneath all of it, the unmistakable feeling of a lull before something significant arrives.

What is coming

I am not given to hype. My Splenic authority speaks once and quietly and it does not perform certainty it does not actually feel. So when I tell you that the second half of this year feels like culmination, I mean that in the most grounded way I know how to say it.

Jupiter is moving into my second house. Chiron is finally leaving Aries, which has been sitting on my Mercury and my North Node for years, pressing on the exact places where I speak and lead and try to be known. Pluto has cleared my seventh house. The astrology is loosening after a long stretch of it being tight and heavy and demanding.

The things I have been building in the quiet are about to have somewhere to go.

This season of rest was not a detour. It was the preparation. And I am only able to say that with any confidence because I have a blueprint that told me this is exactly how I am designed to work. The lull is load-bearing. The 12th house does the underground work that the 1st house gets to walk out into the light and claim.

Why the Astroforecasts are going away

I have been writing horoscopes and transit forecasts because that is what astrology content is supposed to look like. Timely, predictive, delivered before the thing happens so you can prepare.

That is not how I work.

I am a Splenic Manifestor with Mercury in Aries retrograde in my 10th house. My authority is instantaneous and body-based. My communication style fires when it fires, not on a calendar someone else set. My best astrology writing does not tell you what is coming. It tells you what just happened and why it went the way it did and what it means for how you build your business in a body that also has a chart.

Forecasting is a Generator’s game. Synthesis is mine.

So the Astroforecasts are being retired. What replaces them is this: Blueprint Field Notes. People will tell you it’s the funnel. Or the niche. Or the content. Or the energy. And sometimes those things are genuinely the problem. But if I had to name the one thing I see underneath almost every “my business isn’t moving” conversation I have, it’s this: the founder cannot tell me, in plain words, what she does and who changes because of it.

At least not in a polished way. Not in a way that lands. Not in a way that makes the person across from her lean in.

She can tell me what she offers. She can list the deliverables. She can show me the Canva deck she made at 11pm when she was excited about a rebrand. What she can’t do is distill it into something that sounds like her, describes the real work, and opens a conversation rather than closing one.

And because she can’t, she does one of two things.

Option A: She splits herself.

She makes three separate Instagram accounts. One for the coaching, one for the Human Design readings, one for the branding work she still does on the side. She tells herself it’s better to keep things separate so audiences don’t get confused. What actually happens is she triples her content burden, thins her own energy across three places, and none of the accounts ever builds enough momentum to attract anyone.

Option B: She piles.

She puts it all in one place but her introduction sounds like a comma separated course menu of skills. Her website reads like a Cheesecake Factory menu. Forty-seven things, equal weight, no clear door in. A prospective client lands on it and the internal experience is: okay, but which one is for me? That is a question nobody wants to work to answer. They click away.

Both of these are positioning problems. The fix isn’t a new funnel. It’s a movement statement.

What a movement statement is

A movement statement is not a mission statement. Mission statements are for stable companies at scale that need something vague enough for the whole org to fit under. You are not that. You are an evolving founder building a body of work, and your body of work is still moving.

A movement statement names the thing your whole body of work comes back to. The transformation you are here to create in the world, even as the offers shift and the containers change and the thing you are most excited about this year looks different from three years ago.

It is the through line. The thing that is true whether you are running a retreat or doing a one-on-one session or teaching a workshop. If you say it out loud, you should feel it in your chest. When you say it to someone else, they should either say “oh, that’s exactly what I need” or “I know exactly who needs that.” Both of those are a win.

Mine: I architect businesses based on the human behind them.

It took me years to land that. Not because I didn’t know what I was doing, but because I was so inside the work that I couldn’t see the through line. That is normal. It is also fixable.

Crafting a Movement Statement: The Rules

It should make you feel something when you say it. Not just sound good. Feel it in your body. If you feel nothing, it’s still in your head.

It should not start with “I help.” I help is a placeholder. It’s what you say when you don’t yet have the words for what you actually do. Keep going. And while we are at it…

I launched the blueprints last week. Did the thing, showed up, said the words, sent the emails. And then my body went: we’re done here.

I’ve been sleeping more than normal for over a week. My creative urge has been offline for just as long. And I’ve been doing that thing where I tell myself I’m resting, when really I’m hiding. The “rest” that’s actually hiding feels different in the body. Nothing restores. I know this. And yet…

Here’s my pattern, the one I’m actively working to break.

I create something. I get genuinely excited about it. I can already see where it’s going, what it’s becoming, the version of it that exists two iterations from now. And then I move on to building that next thing before I’ve told a single person the first thing exists.

There’s a scene in the Grinch where he says: “5:00, solve world hunger, tell no one.”

That is me. That has always been me. I blame it on my 1 Line in Human Design. This is the line of the researcher so nothing is ever actually “done” (which is also the line that makes me an expert in so many things so I guess it balances out?)

So this time I did the launch. Intentionally. Anchored into it as a practice, because I know I’m good at making things and still practicing the part where I actually let people know the things exist. And it felt good. I showed up. I said the thing. I meant it.

The blueprints I launched are something I’m genuinely proud of. I’m already watching them change how founders see their businesses, watching people move faster and more clearly than they were a week ago. The offer is real. The impact is real. I wanted to honor that by launching it like it mattered.

It cost me more than I expected.

The launch itself was a reasonable amount of work. I paced it well. But my body had a different read on what just happened.

More visibility. More exposure. More people seeing me at a size that’s bigger than my usual baseline. And somewhere underneath the logistics of it, my nervous system registered that as: we are out in the open, and we require more information before we feel okay about this.

I’ve been working on the visibility piece for a while. The part where being seen at a certain scale triggers something protective in the body that has nothing to do with whether the work is good or whether you’re ready. My body isn’t wrong to flag it. It’s doing its job. It’s just that the job it’s doing is protecting a version of me that has already outgrown that level of protection.

So I’ve been sleeping. A lot. My creative energy has been quiet. And I’ve been calling it rest, which is at least partially true, while also knowing there’s a hiding component I’m naming out loud right now.

I've also been carrying guilt about it.

The astro posts I skipped this month. The things I wanted to deliver sooner. The quiet voice that says people noticed, drew conclusions, felt let down.

That fear of letting people down is its own kind of weight. And I’ve been lugging it around on top of an already depleted body, which, as it turns out, is not a great recovery strategy.

Last night I did some somatic work with a ritual from Sam Schmuck’s VIBE Immersion. In one of the homework videos, she said something that stopped me.

A feeling only lasts 90 seconds. What we make of it lasts so much longer.

Ninety seconds. The actual feeling, in the body, without the story layered on top of it, is ninety seconds. Everything after that is the narrative I’m building around it. The meaning I’m making. The conclusions I’m drawing about what it says about me, my business, my readiness, my worth.

I’ve been at war with my body all week when I could have been in conversation with her. The feeling itself was never the problem. The story I kept writing about what the feeling meant, that’s where the week went.

So I vibed through it. Literally sat with the feeling, let it move, and came out the other side in under two minutes.

And I felt better.

I'm still tender. I'm still tired.

The blueprints are still out there. The people who received them are still moving. The work kept going while my creative urge went quiet for a week.

And I’m still here. Still working on the gap between what my brain wants to build and what my body is ready to hold. A little more honest than I planned to be on a Wednesday. But here.

But I'm not giving up on that relationship. The body-brain conversation is the work. It's the same work I help founders do inside their businesses, the friction between how they're wired and how they've been trying to operate. I'm just doing it in real time, out loud, with you.

Picture this…Monday morning and I’m on the floor of my kitchen, in my pajamas, before 9am, using a hatchet because I couldn’t find my hammer. 😫

Last week I destroyed my garbage disposal with artichoke leaves. I didn’t know artichoke fibers do this thing where they wrap themselves around the mechanical shaft until they’ve completely seized it. I do now.

I spent the better part of Sunday trying to fix it → Allen wrench, wooden spoon handle in the reset hole, every method the internet had to offer. Me and ChatGPT worked through the whole diagnostic together. It was still a goner. Wouldn’t budge.

So I ordered a replacement on Amazon at some ungodly hour, it arrived in the wee hours of Monday morning, and I woke up determined. Had it hooked up before most people had finished their first coffee. Ran the disposal. Beautiful. Done.

Then I turned on the dishwasher. My dad taught me that any time you do anything with plumbing, you check all the connections after. Suddenly I had a new water feature in my kitchen that I had not planned for.

Back under the sink. More questions for ChatGPT. Turns out when you connect a garbage disposal to a dishwasher line, there’s a plug inside the mechanism that has to be physically knocked out. Like pushed out with blunt force. Hence the hatchet. Hence the pajamas. Hence the 8:47am timestamp on what was shaping up to be a very full morning.

I got it sorted. The kitchen is dry. Everything is working.

Well, everything is working with my garbage disposal…

There is a specific kind of aloneness that comes with being a single woman who owns her home, where the audio help is available (thankful for my Dad being a phone call away) and the physical help isn’t. Where there’s no one to hand the hatchet to. Where every single thing that breaks lands in the same pile, and that pile has one name on it.

I’m the capable friend. I’m the one people call when something needs figuring out. And I’ve realized that being that person comes with a tax that nobody talks about: when you’re the capable one, people stop checking if you’re okay. They assume you’ve got it. And after a while, you start assuming the same thing about yourself.

You stop asking for help not because you don’t need it, but because needing it starts to feel like a betrayal of the thing everyone thinks you are.

My psychic development teacher told me something this week that landed harder than I expected. She said I’m an energy leaker → that my Cancer rising wires me to help, to give, to show up for people, and that I do it so naturally and so constantly that I’m often doing it at my own expense without even noticing. The drive to help isn’t something I choose in the moment. It’s just how I’m built. Which means the leak is always running.

I thought about that sitting on my kitchen floor, surrounded by towels, next to a dishwasher that had just flooded the room.

A literal leak. Because of course.

I don’t have this figured out.

I want to say that clearly before I go any further.

I’m still in it. The exhausting in-between of not knowing what to just do myself and what to hand to someone else. Not just at home. In my business too.

I could build my own Flodesk workflows. I have the technical fluency. Sixteen years in product and tech means I can figure out pretty much any tool you put in front of me. So the question of whether to outsource it becomes genuinely hard for me to answer because capability keeps getting in the way of clarity.

Can I do this? Yes. Should I? I genuinely don’t know.

And that uncertainty is its own kind of exhausting. Because when you can do everything, nothing has a natural home. Nothing obviously belongs to someone else. Every decision about where your energy goes has to be made consciously, from scratch, every time.

There’s no one looking over your shoulder noticing you’re stretched. There’s no system that catches it. There’s just you, adding one more thing to the pile, because you can, and because no one assumed you couldn’t, and because somewhere along the way you stopped assuming it too.

Capable people don’t get handed permission to stop.

I think about the women I work with and I see this pattern everywhere. The founder who built the whole tech stack herself because she came from engineering and it felt irresponsible to pay someone else. The one who does her own books because she understands numbers and hiring a bookkeeper feels like admitting she’s overwhelmed. The one who answers every client email personally because she’s good at communication and she hasn’t found a way to let that go without feeling like she’s losing something.

Capable people don’t get handed permission to stop. They have to take it.

And I’m not sure I know how to do that yet. Not fully. Not without the voice that says but you could just do it yourself getting loud in the background.

What I do know is this: the hatchet didn’t feel like competence that morning. It felt like evidence of something I haven’t solved yet. The gap between what I’m able to carry and what I should be carrying alone.

I’m still figuring out where that line is.

After you’ve tried to get ChatGPT to interpret your birth chart (spoiler: it doesn’t know astrology and it will confidently get it wrong). After you’ve paid for the reading with the astrologer or the Human Design expert who left you feeling seen and a little electrified. After you’ve found the line on an Instagram post or in a TikTok video that described you so accurately it felt like a violation.

You screenshot it. You maybe send it to your best friend. You save it somewhere you’ll definitely look at again…

And then you file it.

Because insight without infrastructure just becomes another thing you know about yourself that you haven’t figured out how to act on yet.

Here’s what breaks my heart about that: I see it happen constantly with people who are insanely talented. People who have something real to give, who are absolutely meant to be in a leadership role, who have ideas that deserve to exist in the world and they’re stuck. They’re implementing formulas and strategies that were never built for them. They’ve been trying to run themselves like someone else’s operating system and wondering why everything feels harder than it should.

The world is already full of enough resistance. Your business shouldn’t be adding to it.

I built the Unbothered Business Blueprint™ specifically because I kept watching this happen. I kept coming back to this exact issue when I was doing chart readings. I kept thinking but then what???

Brilliant, capable women who knew their patterns, who could name their tendencies in their sleep, who had done years of inner work and were still building businesses that quietly worked against them.

Knowing isn’t the same as operating from it.

So I want to show you what the difference actually looks like. From my own life, in the last few months. Let’s pull back the curtain!

The decision filter I didn't know I needed

Earlier this year I had to get honest about something: I was making reactive decisions.

Reactive in a quiet way. Evaluating every new opportunity fresh, with no written standard to run it against. A potential partnership here. An investment there. A collaboration that sounded exciting in the room. My Splenic authority would fire and I’d feel a yes, but I couldn’t always tell if it was a genuine body signal or just Aries Sun excitement filling the gap.

My Blueprint was explicit about this. Left Angle Cross of Steering means I am designed to see what belongs and what doesn’t, but only when I’m operating from my own clarity, not from other people’s momentum.

So I built a decision filter directly from my Blueprint language in the Energetic Watch Out section.

Specific tests:

• Does this generate personal profit before Q4?

• Does it require Generator-paced sustained output from a Manifestor?

• Does my body still say yes 48 hours after the room?

The filter didn’t change my instincts but it helped give me a way to trust them.

That’s what the Blueprint is supposed to do. Give you something real to come back to when the noise gets loud.

The watch-out that became a tracker

My Blueprint flagged overgiving and overcommitting as my primary energetic watch-outs. Cancer Rising, in case you were wondering (the person who creates safety for everyone before she remembers to create it for herself) 😫.

Reading that wasn’t news. I’ve known this about myself for years.

Catching it in real time is a completely different thing. Because overgiving doesn’t announce itself. It slides in under the name of being helpful, being generous, being the kind of person people can count on. By the time you notice the drain, you’ve already been leaking for hours.

So I built a simple energy leak tracker (I’m lovingly calling her Betty Bothered) to log when and where those patterns actually show up throughout my day. Overgive, overshare, people-please, over-explain, undercharge. Just a category, a quick note, a timestamp.

A few days of data gave me more specific insight into my own patterns than months of vague self-awareness ever did.

Turns out I leak most in the morning, before I’ve done my own initiating work. Turns out people-pleasing spikes mid-week when my energy starts to compress. Turns out “just being helpful” has a very specific time-of-day signature.

Having those things named gave me something to actually tackle head-on. A structural pattern to interrupt, and a place to start.

The offer architecture I stopped second-guessing

For a long time I was building my offer suite based on what felt logical. What a business coach should offer. What the funnel should look like.

My Blueprint was clear that this is exactly how Manifestors burn out. Responding to external frameworks instead of initiating from internal knowing.

The delivery model section told me something I needed to hear: I thrive in containers with a clear beginning, a defined scope, and a specific outcome. Open-ended, always-available, high-volume models are a structural mismatch. So I stopped building toward them.

Before I write anything else this week, I need you to hear something first.

I made a song.

I’m not usually one to follow trends but the “emo song from text/slack messages” has been SENDING me so I had to jump on it.

This was made in Suno and the lyrics are built entirely from feedback (via zoom and notion comments) I received from the first round of clients who went through this process. This is what they actually said about what it felt like to open and read their blueprint…and its kinda lit!🔥

The line that stays with me

“I thought I was broken. Turns out I was misaligned.”

OOF.

Too many people spend years telling themselves they’re broken. Undisciplined. Lacking follow-through or consistency or the right strategy or enough willpower or a better morning routine.

They’re just misaligned.

Operating a business built for someone else’s nervous system. Running on a framework designed for someone else’s energy type, decision-making process, creative rhythm, and leadership style. Doing everything right according to advice that was never calibrated for how they actually work.

And the thing that makes it so insidious is that the standard response to that feeling is to try harder. Add more strategy. Be more consistent. Show up more. Do more.

Which is exactly the wrong direction when the problem is the operating system underneath the business, not the effort going into it.

What the operating system actually is

Every business runs on three things underneath the strategy.

Embodiment. Whether your business actually reflects who you are right now. Your energy, your voice, your expression. Not who you were two years ago when you built the thing. Who you are now.

Sovereignty. Whether you are making decisions from your own instincts or from the accumulated weight of what you think you’re supposed to be doing. The shoulds. The best practices. The advice that works brilliantly for someone else and creates friction every time you try to apply it to yourself.

Structure. Whether your offers, systems, and processes actually support how you naturally work. Or whether you are constantly trying to manage a business that was architected for someone else’s rhythm.

When one of these is off, you feel it everywhere. The marketing feels heavy. The sales feel forced. The delivery feels draining. The whole thing feels like something you are pushing uphill instead of something that moves with you.

When all three are aligned, the texture changes completely because the work finally fits.

What I keep seeing underneath the burnout

A Projector trying to work Generator hours because her business model requires it. Exhausted, invisible, wondering why she can’t seem to keep up with founders who have half her insight and twice her output. The fix wasn’t a better schedule. It was a business model that honored the fact that she is here to guide the work, not execute it.

A Manifesting Generator who spent years calling herself undisciplined for starting things and not finishing them. What was actually happening: her energy is built for movement, iteration, momentum. Linear consistency is not her design. The fix wasn’t more willpower. It was building systems that support momentum instead of punishing her for having it.

A founder who dreaded every piece of content she made for Instagram. Thought she just wasn’t good at it. What her chart revealed: she is a long-form depth creator. People would come to me with completely different problems. Burnout. Marketing that felt heavy. Offers that weren’t converting. Businesses that felt chaotic behind the scenes.

And on the surface, all of those looked like completely different issues.

But underneath them, I kept seeing the same pattern.

It wasn’t a strategy problem. It was a misalignment problem!

A mismatch between how they were operating and how their business was actually structured. People trying to run businesses that didn’t match their energy. Forcing systems that were never designed for them in the first place.

And once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it.

The operating system underneath your business

Here’s the metaphor I keep coming back to.

Think about your phone. The hardware updates over time — new model, new look. But the operating system is what actually determines how everything runs. What’s native to it. What creates friction. What features are new and shiy vs tried and true. What drains the battery faster than it should.

Your business runs the same way.

And that operating system is made up of three things that run across all areas of your business from marketing to offers.

Embodiment. How you show up. Your energy, your voice, your expression. Whether your business actually reflects who you are right now or a version of you from two years ago.

Sovereignty. How you lead. Your decisions, your boundaries, your standards. Whether you’re building from your own instincts or from what you think you’re supposed to be doing.

Structure. What holds everything together. Your offers, your systems, your processes. Whether your business can actually support you or whether it’s something you’re constantly trying to manage.

When one of these is off, the whole system feels it.

When all three are aligned, your business feels very different. Clear. Supportive. Sustainable. Like something that works with you instead of something you’re constantly trying to force.

What this looks like in real life

A client came to me and said: “I feel overwhelmed. I’m stuck in the day-to-day. I don’t have time to focus on the bigger vision.”

On the surface that sounds like a time management problem. A productivity problem. Maybe a systems problem.

But when we looked at her design, she’s a Projector. She’s not here to run the machine. She’s here to see it, guide it, direct it. Her embodiment was off! She was performing like a Generator by trying to do everything herself all day e’ryday. And her structure was off…her business required her to stay in execution instead of supporting her natural role as a visionary.

The fix wasn’t a better calendar. It was redesigning her business around how she’s actually built to operate. The first step? Taking any repeatable thing that was on her todo list and automating it. You can’t work ON your business if you are stuck working IN it.

Another client: “I keep starting things and not finishing them. I just need to be more consistent.”

What she thought was happening: lack of discipline. What was actually happening: her energy is built for movement, iteration, momentum. She’s a Manifesting Generator but she was forcing herself into linear consistency. She needs to build in ways that she gets feedback because that fuels the next iteration. No amount of pep talks in the world could help a Mani-Gen build something completely in isolation to be then sold async forever. The reframe wasn’t “be more disciplined.” It was “build for movement, not repetition.”

Same presenting problem (“lack of discipline”). Completely different root cause. Completely different solution.

That’s what happens when you diagnose the operating system instead of just fixing the symptom.

Run your own diagnostic

Three questions. Sit with each one.

Embodiment: Does your business actually reflect who you are right now, or a version of you from two years ago?

Sovereignty: Are you making decisions from your own instincts, or from outside expectations and what you think you should be doing?

Structure: Do your offers and systems support how you naturally work, or are you constantly forcing them?

If something came up for you, that’s information. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BURN EVERYTHING TO THE GROUND. It’s information so let it soak in first.

The question isn’t how do I fix all of this right now. The question is: what’s the one quarter teaspoon I can take toward the five gallon bucket I’m building?

Alignment happens through lots of little actions that compound.

New Moons are quiet. They’re dark sky, no noise, internal orientation energy. They’re the moment before you start talking and you already know what you’re going to say.

This one though? This one has some electricity in it.

The New Moon on May 16th lands at 25 degrees Taurus, tightly conjunct Mercury (28 degrees Taurus) and conjunct Uranus, which just crossed into Gemini at 1 degree. The chart ruler, Venus, is also in Gemini. Mercury, which rules Gemini, is sitting right next to this lunation.

What that means in plain English: this is a New Moon that is asking you to get grounded and intentional right before everything speeds up. You’re setting seeds in slow, stable Taurus while all the action is already starting to gather momentum in Gemini. This is not your typical “light a candle and journal” New Moon (though, do that too). This is a lunation that is asking you to be deliberate because the window is real and things are about to move.

A Deeper Look at This Lunation

Here’s what makes this New Moon different from a standard Taurus reset: the chart is doing something genuinely interesting at the Taurus/Gemini cusp.

Uranus spent the last seven years in Taurus. Seven years of disruption to our values, our financial systems, our relationship with stability and the body and the earth. That era is done. Uranus crossed into Gemini, and it brought with it a very different set of questions: How do we think? How do we communicate? How do we process information at the speed life is actually moving? In Part One, we built your 00 Social Kit: a color palette screenshot, brand patterns, and stickers and badges, all living in a single folder on your phone. You snap them into Instagram in under thirty seconds and everything looks unmistakably yours.

Here’s what I didn’t tell you in Part One: the same kit works everywhere else in your business too.

Your newsletter. Your client docs. Your Substack posts. Every time someone moves through one of those spaces and it doesn’t look like the brand they just saw on Instagram, there’s a tiny moment of disconnect. They probably can’t name it. But it registers.

The fix is the same one we used in Part One: a few small visual choices, applied consistently, everywhere. You already have most of the assets. We’re going to add one more and then use it everywhere.

First: Add a Custom Breaker to Your Kit

…like the neon checkered breaker you see throughout this post!

In Part One, we talked about stickers, badges, and branded artifacts → the custom graphics with transparent backgrounds that you layer into your content as a personal stamp.

I want to add one more thing to that category: a custom section breaker.

You know the horizontal rule. That thin grey line that drops between sections in a doc, an email, a Substack post. It’s functional. It’s also completely generic. It does nothing for your brand. Let me illustrate this.

A custom breaker swaps that line for something pulled from your visual world. A repeating pattern. A checkered element. A simple graphic that uses your brand colors and echoes the patterns already in your kit. It’s thin enough to not interrupt the reading flow but distinctive enough that someone who’s seen your Instagram immediately recognizes it.

How to build yours in Canva:

1. Open a new Canva design. Set the dimensions to 728px wide × 40px tall. (This is a wide, thin strip — the proportions that work across email, docs, and web posts.)

2. Look at the patterns already in your 00 Social Kit. What’s the repeating element? A checkerboard? A dot grid? A stripe? An Image? Pull that same motif into this canvas. You’re not designing something new. You’re shrinking an existing pattern element down into a horizontal strip.

3. Apply your brand colors. Keep it to one or two. The breaker should feel like a quiet nod to your brand, not a shout.

4. Export as PNG with transparent background.

5. Add it to your 00 Social Kit folder. Label it something obvious — “breaker” or “divider” — so you can find it fast.

That’s it. One graphic. Now let’s use it.

Platform One: Notion

Notion doesn’t have a brand kit feature, but it has just enough flexibility to feel unmistakably yours — especially on any page you’re sharing with clients.

Step 1: Set your cover image. Every Notion page has a cover. In Canva, create a wide-format image (1500 × 600px) in your primary brand color with your logo or publication name in your brand font. Export it. This becomes the cover on every client-facing page — welcome docs, onboarding hubs, resource libraries. One template, duplicated every time.

Step 2: Use callout blocks in your brand color AND to create meaning. Notion’s callout blocks default to grey. Click into the color selector and switch to the closest match to your secondary brand color. Use these for anything you want a client to see first — next steps, key reminders, important context. Choose different colors based on meaning. It becomes a visual language they learn to read without thinking about it. If you’re feeling spicy, add an emoji!

Step 3: Swap the horizontal rule for your breaker. Instead of using Notion’s default divider line between sections, add an image block and upload your custom breaker PNG. Set it to full width. Ten seconds. It makes a shared Notion page look like it came from the same world as your Instagram and your emails.

Step 4: Save a master template. Build one Notion page with all of this already in place → branded cover, callout color, breaker dividers and duplicate it every time. You do the setup once. Every page after that takes thirty seconds.

Platform Two: Flodesk

Flodesk was designed to be beautiful without much effort. The work here is mostly about locking in your choices once so you’re not rebuilding from scratch every send.

Step 1: Set your brand colors and fonts. Go to Brand settings and input your exact hex codes. This controls button colors, heading colors, and link colors across every email you send. While you’re there, set your fonts. Flodesk supports Google Fonts — match your choices as closely as possible to what you’re using everywhere else. Do this once. It applies everywhere. For body copy, choose a Google Font that’s similar and then for the layouts that support custom font, make sure yours is loaded into your brand kit.

Step 2: Build your branded modules. This is where Flodesk’s email builder earns its keep. Inside any email, you can build individual content blocks → a header with your background image, a section divider using your custom breaker PNG, a sign-off block with your logo and signature. Build each of these once, styled exactly to your brand. Choose different backgrounds to use in the modules. Some will have to be a solid color, but some allow background images that you can use textures and images. Play with pulling different brand colors into textures. Here I have a bulletin board texture in two different colors.

Step 3: Save them as Favorites. Here’s the move. Once a module looks right, hover over it and save it to your Favorites. This is Flodesk’s version of your 00 Social Kit folder — a library of pre-built, pre-branded blocks that live inside the platform and snap into any email you’re building.

Your Favorites library should include at minimum:

• A branded header block with your background image or pattern

• Your custom breaker as a standalone divider block

• A few of your favorite layouts loaded in with your fonts, colors and background images

Step 4: Build every email from Favorites. From here, you’re not designing emails. You’re assembling them. Drop in your header Favorite, write your content, drop in your breaker Favorite between sections, close with your sign-off Favorite. Every email looks like it came from the same place because it did → the same branded modules, every time.

This is the same logic as the 00 Social Kit folder, just native to Flodesk. Build the pieces once. Snap them in forever.

Platform Three: Substack

Substack gives you fewer design controls than the other two, which is fine. The visual consistency here comes from a handful of small choices, made once, applied every time.

Step 1: Set your publication color and cover. In Substack’s appearance settings, add your primary brand hex as the publication color → this controls buttons and links across your publication. For the cover, create a simple branded image in Canva: your publication name in your brand font on a solid brand color background. One image. Set it and leave it.

Step 2: Swap the section break for your breaker. When you want to break between sections in a post, insert your custom breaker image inline. In the Substack editor, add a new template, click the image insert button, upload your PNG, and it drops in at full width. Use it in the same position across all of your posts.

Step 3: Create a consistent post structure. This is less about visuals and more about format. Decide on a structure for each series (how your intro opens, where the breaker falls, how you close) and stick to it. Readers start to recognize the shape of a post before they’ve read a word. That’s brand consistency working at the level of writing, not just design.

What You’ve Just Built

Your 00 Social Kit now has a custom breaker in it. That one graphic is sitting in your Notion docs, your Flodesk emails, and your Substack posts → replacing the generic grey line with something pulled directly from your visual world.

Someone who finds you on Instagram, opens your welcome email, clicks into a shared Notion doc, and reads your latest Substack is moving through one coherent world. Not four different businesses that happen to share a name.

That’s the Brand and Snap. Built once. Extended everywhere.

Start with one platform…whichever one you’re in the most right now. Get the breaker in there. Then the next.

This Full Moon on May 1st is not here to be cute about it.

Sun at 11° Taurus, Moon at 11° Scorpio. Fixed signs don’t let things move through quickly. They hold what they find until you actually deal with it. So whatever this lunation surfaces for you, you’re going to be sitting with it for a minute.

Which, honestly? Might be exactly what you need.

Mars is the main character right now

Scorpio’s traditional ruler is Mars, and Mars is currently in Aries, the other sign it rules. So the planet running this Full Moon is at full strength, in its home sign, with zero interest in softening anything for you.

Mars conjuncted Saturn in Aries on April 19th. That was the pressure point. The moment things got forced, tested, decided. This Full Moon isn’t that moment. It’s the morning after, when the light comes in and you can actually see the room.

Whatever April built, broke, or pushed you through: this is where you find out what it meant.

What I keep seeing since that conjunction

I’ve been noticing a theme in the people around me and honestly I think it’s the energy of this whole period. The universe is using contrast as a teaching tool right now.

Someone I know has been doing real work on a pattern she has of abandoning herself to take care of everyone else. She had a morning planned for herself. What actually happened was she got pulled into someone else’s crisis for hours, completely derailed by an addict who needed her in the way that pattern has always made her available to be needed.

By the end of that same day she was in a room full of people who saw her, celebrated her, held her with genuine warmth.

When we talked about it I said:

You can’t unknow that.

That’s what this Full Moon does. It doesn’t hand you information gently. It shows you the gap between where you’ve been and where you’re headed and makes it impossible to pretend you didn’t see it.

A note on Pluto

Pluto co-rules Scorpio in modern astrology and stations retrograde on May 6th in Aquarius, just days before this Full Moon.

When a planet stations it concentrates its themes, so anything in your life touching power, shared resources, or what you genuinely cannot walk away from has been louder than usual this week.

Whatever this lunation reveals in those areas is going to take time to process. Pluto retrogrades through October. Give yourself the longer timeline.

This is also an ending of sorts

From the spring equinox through early May, every major planet has been direct. All of them moving forward at once, which almost never happens for that long. A lot got set in motion. A lot got stirred up. The retrogrades start now, beginning with Pluto, and this Full Moon lands right at that pivot point.

So if April felt like a lot, it was supposed to. This is the moment you get to stop and ask: what was all of that actually unlocking in me? What did it show me that I didn’t have language for before?

That’s the real work of this lunation. Not fixing anything. Just being honest about what you saw.

• Let yourself actually receive what the contrast is showing you. Try not to just note it intellectually and move on. Sit with it. What is the difference between the two experiences trying to tell you?
