Picture this…Monday morning and I’m on the floor of my kitchen, in my pajamas, before 9am, using a hatchet because I couldn’t find my hammer. 😫

Last week I destroyed my garbage disposal with artichoke leaves. I didn’t know artichoke fibers do this thing where they wrap themselves around the mechanical shaft until they’ve completely seized it. I do now.

I spent the better part of Sunday trying to fix it → Allen wrench, wooden spoon handle in the reset hole, every method the internet had to offer. Me and ChatGPT worked through the whole diagnostic together. It was still a goner. Wouldn’t budge.

So I ordered a replacement on Amazon at some ungodly hour, it arrived in the wee hours of Monday morning, and I woke up determined. Had it hooked up before most people had finished their first coffee. Ran the disposal. Beautiful. Done.

Then I turned on the dishwasher. My dad taught me that any time you do anything with plumbing, you check all the connections after. Suddenly I had a new water feature in my kitchen that I had not planned for.

Back under the sink. More questions for ChatGPT. Turns out when you connect a garbage disposal to a dishwasher line, there’s a plug inside the mechanism that has to be physically knocked out. Like pushed out with blunt force. Hence the hatchet. Hence the pajamas. Hence the 8:47am timestamp on what was shaping up to be a very full morning.

I got it sorted. The kitchen is dry. Everything is working.

Well, everything is working with my garbage disposal…

There is a specific kind of aloneness that comes with being a single woman who owns her home, where the audio help is available (thankful for my Dad being a phone call away) and the physical help isn’t. Where there’s no one to hand the hatchet to. Where every single thing that breaks lands in the same pile, and that pile has one name on it.

I’m the capable friend. I’m the one people call when something needs figuring out. And I’ve realized that being that person comes with a tax that nobody talks about: when you’re the capable one, people stop checking if you’re okay. They assume you’ve got it. And after a while, you start assuming the same thing about yourself.

You stop asking for help not because you don’t need it, but because needing it starts to feel like a betrayal of the thing everyone thinks you are.

My psychic development teacher told me something this week that landed harder than I expected. She said I’m an energy leaker → that my Cancer rising wires me to help, to give, to show up for people, and that I do it so naturally and so constantly that I’m often doing it at my own expense without even noticing. The drive to help isn’t something I choose in the moment. It’s just how I’m built. Which means the leak is always running.

I thought about that sitting on my kitchen floor, surrounded by towels, next to a dishwasher that had just flooded the room.

A literal leak. Because of course.

I don’t have this figured out.

I want to say that clearly before I go any further.

I’m still in it. The exhausting in-between of not knowing what to just do myself and what to hand to someone else. Not just at home. In my business too.

I could build my own Flodesk workflows. I have the technical fluency. Sixteen years in product and tech means I can figure out pretty much any tool you put in front of me. So the question of whether to outsource it becomes genuinely hard for me to answer because capability keeps getting in the way of clarity.

Can I do this? Yes. Should I? I genuinely don’t know.

And that uncertainty is its own kind of exhausting. Because when you can do everything, nothing has a natural home. Nothing obviously belongs to someone else. Every decision about where your energy goes has to be made consciously, from scratch, every time.

There’s no one looking over your shoulder noticing you’re stretched. There’s no system that catches it. There’s just you, adding one more thing to the pile, because you can, and because no one assumed you couldn’t, and because somewhere along the way you stopped assuming it too.

Capable people don’t get handed permission to stop.

I think about the women I work with and I see this pattern everywhere. The founder who built the whole tech stack herself because she came from engineering and it felt irresponsible to pay someone else. The one who does her own books because she understands numbers and hiring a bookkeeper feels like admitting she’s overwhelmed. The one who answers every client email personally because she’s good at communication and she hasn’t found a way to let that go without feeling like she’s losing something.

Capable people don’t get handed permission to stop. They have to take it.

And I’m not sure I know how to do that yet. Not fully. Not without the voice that says but you could just do it yourself getting loud in the background.

What I do know is this: the hatchet didn’t feel like competence that morning. It felt like evidence of something I haven’t solved yet. The gap between what I’m able to carry and what I should be carrying alone.

I’m still figuring out where that line is.

After you’ve tried to get ChatGPT to interpret your birth chart (spoiler: it doesn’t know astrology and it will confidently get it wrong). After you’ve paid for the reading with the astrologer or the Human Design expert who left you feeling seen and a little electrified. After you’ve found the line on an Instagram post or in a TikTok video that described you so accurately it felt like a violation.

You screenshot it. You maybe send it to your best friend. You save it somewhere you’ll definitely look at again…

And then you file it.

Because insight without infrastructure just becomes another thing you know about yourself that you haven’t figured out how to act on yet.

Here’s what breaks my heart about that: I see it happen constantly with people who are insanely talented. People who have something real to give, who are absolutely meant to be in a leadership role, who have ideas that deserve to exist in the world and they’re stuck. They’re implementing formulas and strategies that were never built for them. They’ve been trying to run themselves like someone else’s operating system and wondering why everything feels harder than it should.

The world is already full of enough resistance. Your business shouldn’t be adding to it.

The decision filter I didn't know I needed

Earlier this year I had to get honest about something: I was making reactive decisions.

Reactive in a quiet way. Evaluating every new opportunity fresh, with no written standard to run it against. A potential partnership here. An investment there. A collaboration that sounded exciting in the room. My Splenic authority would fire and I’d feel a yes, but I couldn’t always tell if it was a genuine body signal or just Aries Sun excitement filling the gap.

My Blueprint was explicit about this. Left Angle Cross of Steering means I am designed to see what belongs and what doesn’t, but only when I’m operating from my own clarity, not from other people’s momentum.

So I built a decision filter directly from my Blueprint language in the Energetic Watch Out section.

Specific tests:

• Does this generate personal profit before Q4?

• Does it require Generator-paced sustained output from a Manifestor?

• Does my body still say yes 48 hours after the room?

The filter didn’t change my instincts but it helped give me a way to trust them.

That’s what the Blueprint is supposed to do. Give you something real to come back to when the noise gets loud.

The watch-out that became a tracker

My Blueprint flagged overgiving and overcommitting as my primary energetic watch-outs. Cancer Rising, in case you were wondering (the person who creates safety for everyone before she remembers to create it for herself) 😫.

Reading that wasn’t news. I’ve known this about myself for years.

Catching it in real time is a completely different thing. Because overgiving doesn’t announce itself. It slides in under the name of being helpful, being generous, being the kind of person people can count on. By the time you notice the drain, you’ve already been leaking for hours.

So I built a simple energy leak tracker (I’m lovingly calling her Betty Bothered) to log when and where those patterns actually show up throughout my day. Overgive, overshare, people-please, over-explain, undercharge. Just a category, a quick note, a timestamp.

A few days of data gave me more specific insight into my own patterns than months of vague self-awareness ever did.

Turns out I leak most in the morning, before I’ve done my own initiating work. Turns out people-pleasing spikes mid-week when my energy starts to compress. Turns out “just being helpful” has a very specific time-of-day signature.

Having those things named gave me something to actually tackle head-on. A structural pattern to interrupt, and a place to start.

The offer architecture I stopped second-guessing

For a long time I was building my offer suite based on what felt logical. What a business coach should offer. What the funnel should look like.

My Blueprint was clear that this is exactly how Manifestors burn out. Responding to external frameworks instead of initiating from internal knowing.

The delivery model section told me something I needed to hear: I thrive in containers with a clear beginning, a defined scope, and a specific outcome. Open-ended, always-available, high-volume models are a structural mismatch. So I stopped building toward them.

The 1:1 Buildout container became invite-only. The invite is the signal. The Blueprint itself creates enough depth that the next step emerges on its own.

That was a design decision, built from what the Blueprint said about how I actually work.

What I want you to take from this

Alignment doesn’t happen from a one-time insight that gets buried in a folder.

It’s repeated, reinforced action over time.

It’s returning to the document when you’re about to make a big decision. It’s using the watch-outs section as an actual early warning system. It’s letting the delivery model guidance change how you structure your week, not just how you think about yourself.

Before I write anything else this week, I need you to hear something first.

I made a song.

I’m not usually one to follow trends but the “emo song from text/slack messages” has been SENDING me so I had to jump on it.

This was made in Suno and the lyrics are built entirely from feedback (via zoom and notion comments) I received from the first round of clients who went through this process. This is what they actually said about what it felt like to open and read their blueprint…and its kinda lit!🔥

The line that stays with me

“I thought I was broken. Turns out I was misaligned.”

OOF.

Too many people spend years telling themselves they’re broken. Undisciplined. Lacking follow-through or consistency or the right strategy or enough willpower or a better morning routine.

They’re just misaligned.

Operating a business built for someone else’s nervous system. Running on a framework designed for someone else’s energy type, decision-making process, creative rhythm, and leadership style. Doing everything right according to advice that was never calibrated for how they actually work.

And the thing that makes it so insidious is that the standard response to that feeling is to try harder. Add more strategy. Be more consistent. Show up more. Do more.

Which is exactly the wrong direction when the problem is the operating system underneath the business, not the effort going into it.

What the operating system actually is

Every business runs on three things underneath the strategy.

Embodiment. Whether your business actually reflects who you are right now. Your energy, your voice, your expression. Not who you were two years ago when you built the thing. Who you are now.

Sovereignty. Whether you are making decisions from your own instincts or from the accumulated weight of what you think you’re supposed to be doing. The shoulds. The best practices. The advice that works brilliantly for someone else and creates friction every time you try to apply it to yourself.

Structure. Whether your offers, systems, and processes actually support how you naturally work. Or whether you are constantly trying to manage a business that was architected for someone else’s rhythm.

When one of these is off, you feel it everywhere. The marketing feels heavy. The sales feel forced. The delivery feels draining. The whole thing feels like something you are pushing uphill instead of something that moves with you.

When all three are aligned, the texture changes completely because the work finally fits.

What I keep seeing underneath the burnout

A Projector trying to work Generator hours because her business model requires it. Exhausted, invisible, wondering why she can’t seem to keep up with founders who have half her insight and twice her output. The fix wasn’t a better schedule. It was a business model that honored the fact that she is here to guide the work, not execute it.

A Manifesting Generator who spent years calling herself undisciplined for starting things and not finishing them. What was actually happening: her energy is built for movement, iteration, momentum. Linear consistency is not her design. The fix wasn’t more willpower. It was building systems that support momentum instead of punishing her for having it.

A founder who dreaded every piece of content she made for Instagram. Thought she just wasn’t good at it. What her chart revealed: she is a long-form depth creator. A stage, an essay, a long conversation → that is where her work lives. Instagram is the billboard, not the source. The fix wasn’t a content strategy. It was understanding where her creative source actually lives and letting everything else point toward it.

Different problems. Same pattern. An operating system running on the wrong settings.

The question underneath the question

Most business advice starts with: what should you do?

The question I start with is: how are you actually designed to operate?

Because the answer to the first question is useless without the answer to the second.

Strategy built on top of misalignment just creates more sophisticated friction.

When you know how you are designed to think, lead, build, and grow, the strategy becomes obvious. The platforms become obvious. The offer structure becomes obvious. The sales process becomes obvious. The weekly rhythm becomes obvious.

Because you finally have the right map!

People would come to me with completely different problems. Burnout. Marketing that felt heavy. Offers that weren’t converting. Businesses that felt chaotic behind the scenes.

And on the surface, all of those looked like completely different issues.

But underneath them, I kept seeing the same pattern.

It wasn’t a strategy problem. It was a misalignment problem!

A mismatch between how they were operating and how their business was actually structured. People trying to run businesses that didn’t match their energy. Forcing systems that were never designed for them in the first place.

And once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it.

The operating system underneath your business

Here’s the metaphor I keep coming back to.

Think about your phone. The hardware updates over time — new model, new look. But the operating system is what actually determines how everything runs. What’s native to it. What creates friction. What features are new and shiy vs tried and true. What drains the battery faster than it should.

Your business runs the same way.

And that operating system is made up of three things that run across all areas of your business from marketing to offers.

Embodiment. How you show up. Your energy, your voice, your expression. Whether your business actually reflects who you are right now or a version of you from two years ago.

Sovereignty. How you lead. Your decisions, your boundaries, your standards. Whether you’re building from your own instincts or from what you think you’re supposed to be doing.

Structure. What holds everything together. Your offers, your systems, your processes. Whether your business can actually support you or whether it’s something you’re constantly trying to manage.

When one of these is off, the whole system feels it.

When all three are aligned, your business feels very different. Clear. Supportive. Sustainable. Like something that works with you instead of something you’re constantly trying to force.

What this looks like in real life

A client came to me and said: “I feel overwhelmed. I’m stuck in the day-to-day. I don’t have time to focus on the bigger vision.”

On the surface that sounds like a time management problem. A productivity problem. Maybe a systems problem.

But when we looked at her design, she’s a Projector. She’s not here to run the machine. She’s here to see it, guide it, direct it. Her embodiment was off! She was performing like a Generator by trying to do everything herself all day e’ryday. And her structure was off…her business required her to stay in execution instead of supporting her natural role as a visionary.

The fix wasn’t a better calendar. It was redesigning her business around how she’s actually built to operate. The first step? Taking any repeatable thing that was on her todo list and automating it. You can’t work ON your business if you are stuck working IN it.

Another client: “I keep starting things and not finishing them. I just need to be more consistent.”

What she thought was happening: lack of discipline. What was actually happening: her energy is built for movement, iteration, momentum. She’s a Manifesting Generator but she was forcing herself into linear consistency. She needs to build in ways that she gets feedback because that fuels the next iteration. No amount of pep talks in the world could help a Mani-Gen build something completely in isolation to be then sold async forever. The reframe wasn’t “be more disciplined.” It was “build for movement, not repetition.”

Same presenting problem (“lack of discipline”). Completely different root cause. Completely different solution.

That’s what happens when you diagnose the operating system instead of just fixing the symptom.

Run your own diagnostic

Three questions. Sit with each one.

Embodiment: Does your business actually reflect who you are right now, or a version of you from two years ago?

Sovereignty: Are you making decisions from your own instincts, or from outside expectations and what you think you should be doing?

Structure: Do your offers and systems support how you naturally work, or are you constantly forcing them?

If something came up for you, that’s information. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BURN EVERYTHING TO THE GROUND. It’s information so let it soak in first.

The question isn’t how do I fix all of this right now. The question is: what’s the one quarter teaspoon I can take toward the five gallon bucket I’m building?

Alignment happens through lots of little actions that compound.

One thing I think happens when you stop obsessing over strategy all the time is that you actually get your time back.

And I don’t mean in some magical “work four hours a week” kind of way. I mean that when you’re not constantly trying to decode someone else’s funnel, content cadence, sales framework, or “what’s working right now,” you suddenly have way more capacity to pay attention to your actual business.

Your actual people.
Your actual clients.
The actual experience of being in your world.

And honestly, I think that matters a lot more than people give it credit for.

Because some of the best things I do in my business are not the loudest things. They’re not always the things that would make a flashy Instagram carousel. They’re the quieter decisions that make people feel really taken care of once they’re already in proximity to me.

That’s what I think of as white glove service.

Not in a stuffy or overly polished way. More in a “you can tell I actually thought about what this would feel like on your end” kind of way.

Like if I’m sending an email, I want the subject line to be easy to find later. If it’s a proposal, I’m going to actually say proposal in the subject line, even if I make the rest of it more fun. If it’s an event invite, I want it to still feel exciting, but I also want someone to be able to type “invite” or the event name into their inbox later and pull it up without digging through chaos.

That’s white glove to me.

If I’m reviewing something for a client or teaching them how to use a system, I’ll often record a Loom because I know that’s easier than sending six paragraphs of explanation. It gives them the walkthrough, it gives them context, and it gives them a place to ask questions without needing to schedule another call.

That’s white glove to me too, and it doesn’t stop at just explaining something clearly.

It also looks like teaching and delivering things in more than one format. Because people don’t all absorb information the same way. Some people need to hear it. Some need to read it. Some need to see it mapped visually. Some need a checklist, a table, a chart, or an actual example they can reference while they’re doing the thing.

So if I’m walking someone through something, I’m usually thinking about how to make it easier to actually take in and easier to implement. That might mean a Loom with written instructions underneath. It might mean breaking something into sections with clear headers, visual hierarchy, or simple formatting that makes it easier to scan later. It might mean giving them a Canva template they can actually use, or a Notion page they can duplicate instead of expecting them to build it from scratch after the call.

Accessibility matters here too. Captions, clear formatting, and multiple entry points into the same information are all part of the experience.

To me, that’s white glove too. Not just delivering the insight, but making it easier to receive and actually do something with once it lands.

If we’re on a call and making decisions, I’m not expecting them to also be frantically taking notes while trying to stay present. I’m capturing what we’re deciding in real time. I’m organizing action items. I’m documenting what matters so they can stay in the conversation instead of trying to become their own project manager mid-session.

That’s also white glove.

And none of this is particularly glamorous, which is maybe why people don’t talk about it enough. But I think this is actually a huge part of what makes a business feel really good to be inside of.

A lot of people are spending so much time trying to get more eyes on their business that they’re not putting enough intention into what happens when someone actually enters it.

And to me, that’s the whole game.

Because yes, obviously, you need attention. You need visibility. You need people to know you exist. But if all of your energy is going toward attracting and none of it is going toward care, clarity, thoughtfulness, and actual support, people can feel that too.

So when I think about white glove service, I’m really thinking about the entire relationship someone has with your business, from the first moment they come across you all the way through working with you, finishing with you, and ideally staying connected to your world afterward.

Not physically loud, necessarily…information loud. Advice loud. Opinion loud. Every corner of the internet has a framework, a blueprint, a step-by-step system that promises to show you the “right” way to do something. Five ways to make six figures. Ten steps to grow your Substack. The exact routine every successful founder supposedly follows before 7 a.m.

Scroll long enough and you’ll find someone confidently explaining the exact opposite of the thing you just read.

It’s overwhelming in a way that didn’t exist even a generation ago. Today we absorb more information in a single day than someone living a few centuries ago would have encountered in their entire lifetime. When you think about that, it becomes obvious that clarity isn’t just about making better decisions anymore.

It’s about filtering signal from noise.

And if you don’t have a strong internal signal, the noise will make decisions for you.

When the Life You Built Stops Making Sense

For a lot of people, the first crack in the system shows up around their Saturn return.

Somewhere around your late twenties or early thirties, the life you carefully constructed begins to feel strangely misaligned. On paper, everything might look correct. You followed the rules. You made the responsible choices. You built something that made sense according to the models you were given.

And yet something inside you quietly starts asking a different question:

Is this actually mine?

Because when you look closely, many of the decisions that shaped your life weren’t consciously chosen. They were inherited. Stories you absorbed about what success looks like. Stories about adulthood, money, relationships, career paths, and stability. Expectations that came from parents, teachers, culture, and the invisible rules of whatever environment you grew up in.

For many women especially, there was never a clear blueprint for living an independent, self-directed life. Our mothers often didn’t have that option in the same way we do now, and our grandmothers certainly didn’t. The examples of women designing their own lives…

→ making their own money
→ building their own paths
→ defining their own identities

…were usually distant figures we saw in media or admired from afar. They weren’t models we witnessed up close.

So we inherited structures built for a completely different reality. And eventually there comes a moment when you realize that the life you designed was built using an outdated map.
